Friday, Sept. 5

Teen Reset, Dog Therapy: Teens can a mindful break at the library with Sandy, a lovable therapy dog. Teens are invited to pet Sandy, feed her treats, and enjoy a calm space for journaling or just unwinding. Snacks and writing materials will be provided, making this a perfect way to reset after the first week of school.

Nerd Nite NYC: Celebrate the kickoff of Nerd Nite’s 20th season with an evening of smart, funny, and surprising presentations paired with trivia. This month’s talks include The Science of Stand-Up: What Funny People Do to Our Brains by Chelby Joseph, The History of New Yorkers & Their Trash by Robin Nagle, and Why Namibia Is the Best Country on Earth by Katharina Herrle. Bring friends for trivia, laughs, and a few “aha!” moments.

Saturday, Sept. 6

Museum of Wheels: Celebrate the legacy of environmentalist Hattie Carthan, founder of the Magnolia Tree Earth Center, at a lively Bed-Stuy block party. Visitors can create nature-inspired art, explore teaching objects from the mobile museum, and enjoy games, music, and family activities. Food vendors include Saint Michel Café and Bakery, Island Pops and Brooklyn Tea.

Tell Every Amazing Lady Run: Lace up for a cause at this annual 5K run and walk in Prospect Park, raising awareness and funds for ovarian cancer research, support, and education. Hosted by the Tell Every Amazing Lady Foundation, the event honors survivors and their families while spreading knowledge about this important women’s health issue. Participants can run in person, walk with a team, or join virtually through the T.E.A.L. Walk Anywhere package.

Sunday, Sept. 7

The Brooklyn Dribble: The New York Liberty’s biggest community celebration returns to Brooklyn Bridge Park! While the dribble parade from Pier 6 to Pier 2 is now closed, families can RSVP for the free Fan Fest beginning at 11 a.m. Expect Liberty player appearances, live performances, a photobooth, face painting, food trucks and more. A must for basketball fans and families alike.

Broadway Drag Trivia: Put your brains and beauty to the test at Pink Metal’s monthly drag trivia night! Hosted by the electrifying Pacha and featuring Benedick the B@stard, the evening includes fierce drag performances, three rounds of trivia (one general knowledge and two musical theatre-themed), gogo dancing, and prizes for top teams. Come solo or form a team of up to four and compete for bragging rights and a $100 gift card grand prize. Two-drink minimum. 21+ only.
